District Elections​

Below is preliminary information regarding the District’s Board of Directors Elections. If you have any further questions please contact the District’s Attorney at 214-981-9090.

The District is authorized to conduct elections on the uniform election dates in May and November. Five of the initial temporary District Directors were designated by the District Act; and the sixth Director will be appointed by the City of Denton. The temporary Directors shall hold an initial election within the District to elect the five permanent Directors. The initial District election will be held at such time as qualified voters reside within the District. Thereafter, the District will hold its Directors Election in May of even numbered years to elect 2 or 3 Directors, as appropriate, in accordance with Chapter 49, Water Code.

The next Directors Election for Hunter Ranch Improvement District No. 1 will be May 4, 2024.

First Day to file for General Election Ballot: Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Last day to file an application for a place on the ballot: Friday, February 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. 

Official notice will be posted here when it becomes available.

Election Date: May 4, 2024.

​

The location(s) of the election will be posted upon determination. The Order Calling Election will be posted here when it becomes available.

A person must file an application for a place on the ballot. Application for a place on The General Election Ballot can be found on the Texas Secretary of State website at:

To be qualified to serve as a Director, a person shall be a US citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of the State of Texas and either own land subject to taxation in the District or be a qualified voter in the District (Texas Water Code 54.102).

​
